MEDEAMA SC recorded a 4-0 statement win over Asante Kotoko in their Match day 29 clash of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) played on Sunday at the TnA Stadium.

With Gold Stars losing 2-1 to Aduana on Saturday, Medeama reclaimed the top spot after the Kotoko annihilation and hope to establish a grip with five matches to end the season.

For Asante Kotoko, it marked a seeming end to their title aspiration as they languish in sixth position, trailing the leaders by 10 points.

Mathematically, there may be a way out to the top but the current form of the team and the low confidence make that unrealistic.

The position of Interim Head Coach, Prince Yaw Owusu, confirms this.

In his post-match interview, the crest-fallen coach, Yaw Owusu, did not mince words about the club’s predicament, insisting that, “the title ambition is over.”

“There’s nothing like a title dream again. That dream for this season is gone forever. What we need to do now is to keep fighting to salvage a respectable position for the club,” he stated.

Kotoko was poor from the start, allowing Medeama to dominate the game for greater spells, culminating in an early goal from a deflected strike.

Adams hammered the final nail into the Porcupine Warriors coffin to climax a Man-of-the-Match display.

It was a double agony for Berekum Chelsea who suffered a 1-0 loss to FC Samartex.

On their way back, the Chelsea team was attacked by robbers, resulting in the death of Dominic Frimpong who joined them from Aduana FC on loan.

At the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Nations FC earned a 2–0 victory over Basake Holy Stars in an entertaining encounter.

Samuel Tetteh scored both goals in the fifth and 10th minutes as Nations boosted their survival battle.

Karela United and a 10-man Heart of Lions shared the spoils after an entertaining 2-2 encounter at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

With nothing to fight for, Eleven Wonders attempted to spring a surprise on Dreams FC in their clash.

That agenda had a positive start, but Dreams showed no mercy in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals to record a 5-1 trouncing.

Suraj Seidu fired a brace followed by goals from John Antwi, Jonathan Nemorden, and Godfred Sarpong.

Young Apostles also recorded a 1–0 victory over All Blacks at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.
