Kuwait Day celebrated in Ghana

The State of Kuwait has celebrated the 59th anniversary of the National Day and the 29th anniversary of Liberation of the State of Kuwait in Accra on Thursday.

The occasion brought together some government officials, Members of Parliament, Diplomatic Corp, traditional rulers and members of the Kuwaiti community in Ghana and a cross-section of Ghanaians.

The Secretary to the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Ghana, Ms Safa Beyrothi, on behalf of his Ambassador, Mohammed Abdullah Alkhaledi, thanked the government and the people of Ghana for their continuous support and assistance to their country.

She was hopeful that the bond of friendship between the two countries would be strengthened to benefit all sectors of their economy.

In an interview, The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta, who represented the government, commended the government of the State of Kuwait for their continuous support and assistance in the roads sector.

According to him, the Kuwait government was funding the construction of a 21-kilometer road worth 24 million Kuwaiti dinars between Dome and Ketase in Accra.

“The road which is crucial will join Accra to the Akuapem Ridge in the Eastern Region and also serve as alternative route to government facilities such as the Peduase Lodge and construction of the road when completed will also lead to other settlements including the Ashesi University to strengthen bilateral relationship between the two countries,” Mr Amoako Atta noted.

He said a national day celebration was important for every county to tell its origin.
