The Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon, Ms Rita Odoley Sowah, last Friday distributed assorted items to at least 1,000 elderly people as part of the yuletide celebration.

The items which included bags of rice, cooking oil, canned fish, soap and drinks were presented at Mantiase, Kaajano, Adobetor, Cantonments, Tseaddo, Ademra and Kojo Sardine, all in the constituency.

Ms Sowah said the gesture was to appreciate the aged and vulnerable during this festive season.

Christmas, according to Ms Sowah, “is a time of giving and caring for those who don’t have and are in difficulties just to make them happy in society. It is the duty of the fortunate ones, to cater for the aged, poor and vulnerable persons.”

She thanked people for voting massively for her, in the 2020 elections, and promised to lobby for development projects, such as roads, schools, hospital for the area.

Ms Sowah urged the people to go for the COVID-19 jabs to prevent the spread of the disease.

She apologised on behalf of Members of Parliament for the brawl that ensued recently at the House over the 2022 budget.

Ms Sowah said she would seek the welfare of people with disabilities and children in the constituency.

Mr Isaac Abbey and Ms Mildred Oboshie Shan, residents of Mantiase, asked for God’s blessings, knowledge, wisdom, long life and mercies for the MP.

According to them, the MP had shown love and kindness for the weak and aged.
