The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) on Tuesday inaugurated a three-unit classroom block for the St. Paul’s Anglican Junior High School (JHS) at La in Accra.

The classroom block, which was constructed at the cost of GH¢ 547, 000, included a headmaster’s office and store, staff common room, library/ICT rooms and washrooms.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of LaDMA, Mr Solomon Kotey Nikoi, said the move was to promote the process of teaching and learning in the municipality.

He said the facility, funded with the District Assembly Common Fund-Response Factor Grant (DACF-RFG), was completed within 10 months.

“The assembly is committed to the socio-economic development of the community and education remains our priority,” he stated.

Mr Nikoi said, “We thank institutions and individuals who supported the construction of the edifice as it would go a long way to help impact the standard of education within the area”.

The La Shikitele, Nii Adjei Koofeh, appealed to the assembly to maintain the facility, saying “many of such edifices are left to deteriorate after huge investments have been put into its construction”.

He urged student to take their academic works seriously and stay away from social vices.

Nii Koofeh expressed appreciation to the assembly for its good work and urged the traditional council and other stakeholders to support development in the area.

The assembly also cut the sod for the construction of a school block for the La Salem and Bethel JHS at the cost of GH¢ 1.2 million.

The contractor for the project, Mr Richmond Agbesi of Ellbus Limited, pledged to complete the facility on time and urged the community to support him to execute the project.
