THE La Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA), in partnership with Rita Odorley Sowah, MP for La Dade-Kotopon, has donated assorted food items to three Muslim groups in the municipality to aid their fasting during Ramadan.
The beneficiary mosques included Mother Mosque, Cantonment Police Mosque, and Kojo Sardine Mosque. Donations comprised bags of rice, sugar, cartons of milk, tea, cooking oil, tomato paste, and other essentials.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alfredos Nii Anyetei, urged Muslims to continue praying for the assembly and government for national peace and progress. He noted that Ramadan is a time when Muslims pray fervently for the country, and the assembly’s support reflects appreciation for their devotion.
He also encouraged the youth to be mindful of their surroundings, promote peace, and live harmoniously with others.
Ms Sowah, who also serves as Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, described her contribution as modest support for Muslims during the fasting period. She called for prayers for God’s protection and guidance over Ghana, emphasizing that peace fosters development and progress. She added that other mosques in the constituency would also benefit from the initiative.
Superintendent of Police, Imam Husein Abdur Rahim Husein of Cantonment Police Mosque, expressed gratitude to LaDMA and the MP.
Chief Imams, Alhaji Ibrahim Leetei Mensah and Sheikh Abdur Rashid Odoi, praised the kind gesture, promising to pray for the MCE and MP and ensure the donations reach those in greatest need.
The beneficiaries thanked LaDMA and the MP for recognizing the Muslim community’s contributions and supporting them during the holy month.
