THE Embassy of Turkey in Ghana and the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) are collaborating in the areas of Trade and Investment as a means of promoting mutual business opportunities.
The Ambassador, Huseyin Gungor, who made this known on Thursday, during a curtesy call to the Assembly in Accra, stressed that such opportunities would open up job avenues for the citizens to earn a better living.
“My basic area of focus in creating jobs opportunities is in trade and investment, because that is where the citizens could make a living from and the income they earned could be used to support their families and also pay for taxes to enable the city authorities use for development in the area,’’ Mr Gungor said.
The visit was to strengthen bilateral relationship between the people of Turkey and the assembly where they operates from and also to explore business opportunities of mutual benefits.
The Ambassador noted that in the last two years about 90 Ghanaian students had secured scholarships to study in Turkey, stressing that the Embassy was working to increase the number to enable more students get access to study in Turkey.
The Chief Executive Officer for LaDMA, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, indicated that the Assembly had launched its long-term development plan and was seeking for partners to execute the plan.
He said the development plan covered areas in security, job creation, empowerment of small and medium-sized enterprises, and support of farmers and agro-processors.
The rest, he said, were creation of craft markets, artisans, and expansion of education, health, sanitation, environment, and agriculture infrastructure
