The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wassa East, Isaac Adjei-Mensah, has urged the citizenry to avoid partisan politics and forge in unity for the development of their communities.
He explained that, “effective development cannot take place in communities where there are division and disunity, and there is the need to close our ranks no matter our political affiliations to accelerate development of our areas.”
Mr Adjei-Mensah made the call at a stakeholder engagement in the Ateiku electoral area to account to them how the District Assembly Common Fund has been disbursed in the past years.
He noted that the Common Fund was solely for developmental needs of the district and should be used as such, his outfit over the years had been able to construct a six-unit classroom at Mpream, a three-unit classroom block at Akrofi and a six- unit classroom block at Sekyere-Hemang, which would enhance teaching and learning.
The MP said his office, through his share of the Common Fund, supplied 100 mono-desks to Atobiase examination centre, 50 bags of cement to Atweabasa D/A school for construction of teacher’s quarters, 70 bags of cement to Domama D/A, Beenuyie for renovation works, construction works for boys and girls dormitories at Daboase Senior High School was on course, selected schools supplied with computers, projectors, printers and ICT materials to facilitate learning.
“I also facilitated admission of more than 40 qualified teacher trainees since September 2018 to April this year, approved for payment of fees for 259 students in the university, polytechnic and training colleges, pledged providing assistance to parents with wards offering medicine and nursing for successful completion of programmes.
“The construction of Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds at Prato, Kubekro, Dwenase, Amponsaso, antenatal shed at Adiembra and renewal of National Health Insurance (NHIS) cards for 8,000 aged and vulnerable had also started.
“The Sekyere-Obuasi, Atobiase, Tosen, and Domama bridges constructed, Daboase-Ateiku-Dompim-Domama-Amponsaso-Dwenase-Ekutuase-Atobiase roads tarred to create development opportunities, provide employment for the youth, 14 communities provided with more than 100 cocoa spraying machines, lobbied for fertiliser, distributed cutlasses and wellington boots to farmers to assist farming activities,” Mr Adjei-Mensah touted. –GNA
