Ghanaians have been urged to demonstrate political maturity and work together to consolidate the peace of the country by supporting the conduct of peaceful elections in December 2024.
Superintendent of Police (Supt) Mr Mohammed Tanko, Divisional Police Commander in Dambai, made the call during the inauguration of the Inter Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Krachi East Municipal Assembly Hall, Dambai.
He urged the 40-member committee and stakeholders within the municipality to guard against hate speech which could inspire violence.
“Election is about competition of ideas and not hate speech, we must ensure every Ghanaian continue to positively contribute to peace, to let Ghana emerge once again as the beacon of hope in the world”.
Mr Tanko said that it was important to get all Ghanaians to moderate their behavior on election day to ensure that our nation becomes the winner of the elections.
He said peace was fragile and priceless, henceforth, “we should use dialogue to resolve issues, not a feast, not a gun. We must walk in peace and talk peace, for without peace there will be no development.”
Reverend John Pangmwot, on behalf of the committee members pledged their commitment to ensuring the message reaches the grassroots as part of their efforts to contribute to the Municipal’s continual peace and the country at large.
They expressed profound appreciation to the NCCE and the Municipal Assembly for initiating the formation of the IPDC in the Municipal and holding this exercise.
