The President of the South East Ghana Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Chaplain (Colonel) P. N. Duodu (rtd), has called on all Ghanaians to embrace unity, integrity, and national responsibility as the surest path to accelerated development in 2026.
Delivering the Church’s New Year Message to the Nation, Chaplain Duodu emphasized that Ghana’s strength lies in the collective commitment of her people, regardless of tribe, language, religion, or political affiliation. Quoting the biblical principle that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people,” he stressed that integrity must underpin governance, business, and everyday life.
He urged national leaders to serve with wisdom and humility, citizens to demonstrate responsibility and mutual respect, and the youth to uphold discipline, diligence, and hope for the future.
Reflecting on 2025, Chaplain Duodu acknowledged the economic pressures, social tensions, and global uncertainties Ghana faced, yet praised the nation’s resilience by God’s grace. He commended progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, and technology, as well as the creativity of the youth, the dedication of workers, and the perseverance of communities across the country.
The Church leader extended appreciation to the President, Vice-President, Parliament, government leadership, the Ghana Armed Forces, Police Service, judiciary, media, civil society, faith-based organizations, and traditional authorities for safeguarding peace, promoting unity, and strengthening democratic governance.
Addressing illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, Chaplain Duodu described it as one of the gravest threats to Ghana’s future. He highlighted its impact on polluted rivers, degraded farmlands, disappearing forests, and the erosion of trust in national institutions. He called on leaders to enforce laws with fairness and integrity, communities to protect their lands, youth to pursue lawful livelihoods, and faith communities to advocate for environmental stewardship.
Chaplain Duodu further encouraged compassion and service, urging citizens to care for the poor, sick, elderly, and marginalized, while supporting families and education. He prayed for God’s blessings on the nation and expressed hope that 2026 would be marked by peace, prosperity, and unity for Ghana, its leaders, and its people.
