Deputy Imam of the National Mosque, Imam Alhaji Mohammed Awal Shuaib Alhassan, has admonished Ghanaians to continue to foster peace, compassion and love.

Delivering a Khutbah (sermon) before leading the congregation for Jumah (Friday) prayers at the National Mosque in Accra last Friday, Imam Alhassan said “let us work together to create a culture of peace on the principles of justice, compassion and love .”

Imam Alhassan, whose sermon was on “We want Peace,” admonished Ghanaians to be peaceful at all times and show love and compassion to one another so that Allah will have mercy on the country and bless the country with abundance of prosperity.

Imam Alhassan offered prayers to the security agencies for Allah to strengthen them to be fair and firm in the discharge of their duties for the country to remain peaceful and stable.

The Deputy Imam of the National Mosque, added that “Today we gather in this masjid seeking peace, guidance and tranquility. We want peace in our homes, communities, and nations.”

Making references to the Holy Qur’an “And make peace among you.” (Quran 8:1), Imam Alhassan indicated that “Let us reflect on our actions and words. Do we spread peace or discord?”

Moreover, Imam Alhassan made references to the Hadiths (teachings of the Holy prophet of Islam, Mohammed, peace and blessing be upon him) “You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another.” (Sahih Muslim)

“As we pray for peace, let us remember, Let us strive for forgiveness, compassion, and understanding,” he indicated, and quoting Hadiths “Whoever makes peace between two people, Allah will give him a reward like the one who frees a slave.”(Tirmidhi).

“Peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice and compassion.” (Imam Malik)
