The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has announced September 21, for the launch of its 2024 election manifesto in the Volta Regional capital Ho.
The founder and leader of the party, Mr Percival Kofi Akpaloo, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghanaian Times in Accra, yesterday, said the launch would be held at Ola Senior High School, Ho.
He indicated that in addition to the unveiling of the manifesto, the party would also take the opportunity to introduce its running mate.
Mr Akpaloo mentioned that significant progress had been made in preparing for the manifesto launch; however, this year’s manifesto would not differ greatly from that of 2020.
“There will be minor additions, but fundamentally, we will uphold the commitments made in 2020, and we anticipate an attendance of approximately 1,000 individuals,” he stated.
He emphasised that the manifesto would focus on “putting money into people’s pockets,” proposing that every child under 18 years would receive a monthly allowance of GH¢500.00.
Additionally, he noted that twins would each receive GH¢750.00.
In addition, he stated that the party plans to implement an unemployment benefit programme, which would provide a monthly stipend to every unemployed Ghanaian.
“Individuals who have never been employed will receive income support of GH¢700.00, specifically for those who have not contributed to SSNIT. Conversely, those who have made contributions will receive payments proportional to their contributions,” he elaborated.
The founder, who affirmed his intention to continue leading the party as its presidential candidate, emphasised that his administration would offer free university education to all citizens of Ghana if elected in the 2024 elections.
He guaranteed that no Ghanaian would be excluded from accessing tertiary education, asserting that the party would revitalise and transform the Ghanaian economy upon gaining power.
“The issues confronting Ghanaians, such as unemployment, poverty, limited access to quality education, and insufficient infrastructure and housing, will be addressed through this manifesto if we are granted the opportunity,” he remarked.
When questioned about the feasibility of these initiatives, he responded that Ghana’s abundant natural resources, including bauxite, gold, timber, coffee, and cocoa, are sufficient to alter the country’s fortunes.
Mr Akpaloo also pledged to prioritise the employment of disabled individuals by mandating that every public and private company hire at least one disabled person.
He stated that his government would ensure equitable distribution of national resources by establishing a US$10 billion job fund aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and start-ups in developing their businesses.
“Our target is to build 1billion entrepreneurs by the end of 2028 because we believe that when you invest in people’s businesses and vision, you’re growing businesses, creating wealth and jobs,” he added.
He said the manifesto would also focused on health, women empowerment, infrastructure, sports, tourism and agriculture, among others.
“We’re bringing them something that will give them hope, future and a government that they can trust,” the flagbearer said, urging Ghanaians to vote for the LPG to eradicate the poverty in the country
