The Manso Takorase Afraso community in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region has taken a significant step toward digital inclusion following the provision of free WiFi services by the Assemblyman for the area, Mr Dominic Bonsu.
The initiative, already receiving commendation from residents, is expected to enhance education, business activities, and communication across the community. The facility, installed throughout the electoral area, will enable households to access reliable internet services.
Students, who previously struggled with poor connectivity, can now undertake online research, access digital learning platforms, and participate in virtual academic activities with ease.
Traders and small business owners are also poised to benefit, as improved connectivity will support mobile money transactions, online marketing, and smoother communication with clients and suppliers.
Mr Bonsu explained that the absence of dependable internet access had long placed a burden on residents, particularly learners and entrepreneurs who rely on digital platforms for study, commerce, and daily communication. Addressing this gap became necessary to ease the challenges confronting the community.
Several rural communities in the country continue to grapple with unstable or weak network services, a situation that slows academic progress, disrupts business operations, and limits access to important online information and government services.
The provision of free WiFi in Manso Takorase Afraso has therefore been welcomed as a timely intervention. Residents believe the initiative will broaden opportunities for the youth, improve the learning environment, and support economic activities that depend on strong digital connectivity. They are optimistic that the project will create lasting benefits for students, businesses, and families, ensuring the community is not left behind in an increasingly digital world.
