THE Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), and Fauree Link Ghana Limited have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitise the country’s agricultural sector.

Signed in Accra on Monday, the agreement establishes a framework for the development and deployment of a government-branded, Ghana-specific digital agricultural ecosystem platform known as “Akuafo Anidaso — meaning Farmers’ Hope.”

The platform is intended to serve as the central digital backbone of Ghana’s agricultural ecosystem. A statement issued by the two parties after the signing said “It will support national farmer registration and identity verification, digital input distribution and targeted subsidy management, as well as embedded agricultural financing solutions.”

“Designed as a government-branded white-label system, the platform will align with the national Feed Ghana Programme and the broader agricultural modernisation agenda,” the statement said.

Under the terms of the MoU, Fauree Link Ghana Limited will design, customise, deploy and operate the platform.

A structured pilot programme is scheduled to begin on March 15, 2026, ahead of the new farming season. The pilot will evaluate system readiness, farmer onboarding processes and ecosystem integration before a nationwide rollout.

The agreement also underscores Ghana’s commitment to data sovereignty and farmer protection. Individual user data will remain the property of farmers, while aggregated and anonymised macroeconomic data generated through

the platform will be treated as a sovereign national asset.

By integrating technology into farmer registration, financing, subsidy distribution and market systems, the initiative is expected to boost productivity, enhance transparency, improve subsidy targeting and expand farmers’ access to finance and structured markets.

Industry observers said the initiative positions Ghana to emerge as a regional leader in digital agricultural governance and agri-finance innovation.
