MTN Ghana has equipped more than 200 entrepreneurs with practical training in digital and business skills to drive economic growth and enhance the competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

The initiative forms part of the MTN SME Clinic programme, designed to help entrepreneurs transition from survival to sustainable growth.

Speaking at the Greater Accra edition of the MTN SME Clinic in Accra on Thursday, the Senior Manager for SME Sales, Partnerships and Business Broadband at MTN Ghana, Mohammed Abubakari-Sidick, said a digital presence was essential for businesses seeking to expand their customer base and access opportunities beyond Ghana.

He said having a presence on the web enabled businesses to connect with customers globally while helping them transition from survival mode to a growth-oriented approach.

According to him, MTN had introduced several solutions to address the needs of SMEs, including SME Plus, Yellow Biz, Microsoft 365, unified communication services and Business Eye, a camera solution that allows business owners to remotely monitor their businesses.

He explained that Business Eye was particularly useful to SME owners who were often reluctant to leave their businesses unattended while attending training programmes or pursuing other activities.

He urged SMEs that participated in the clinic to apply the knowledge acquired to their operations to enable them to achieve sustainable growth.

The Lead Project Manager of Floramaria, a sanitation and construction services company, Mr Ramsey Apodei, described the business clinic as beneficial to his company.

He said the programme provided practical lessons that could help businesses understand and respond to challenges within Ghana’s business environment.

Mr Apodei said his company intended to use the knowledge acquired to strengthen its structures and systems, particularly in the areas of sanitation, environmental sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

He urged businesses to continuously seek knowledge and adopt innovative approaches to remain competitive in the marketplace.
