In what could be termed as cultural preservation, the Paramount Queen of Great-Ningo Traditional Area, Naana Dugbakuwor Dugba II has performed the “Djange Domi” festival in honour of the deities of the land.
The festival, was significantly celebrated recently to express gratuity and reverence to the deities of Great-Ningo Traditional Area as an appreciation for protecting the entire traditional area devoid of mayhem.
Describing the cultural activities, Naana Dugbakuwor Dugba II indicated that, the festival is usually characterised by feeding and making merry to the aboriginal deity of the people of Great-Ningo Traditional Area.
She mentioned that, special appreciations are being made for the Djange deity in enabling a fertile land in the traditional area which yielded a successful all-year round farming to boost sustenance and commercial activities.
“In course of celebrating this festival, residents go to the shrine of the deity to fervently submit their requests of choice which could either be in a form of protection, blessing, forgiveness and renewal of hope into the prospective years”, she underscored.
Naana Dugbakuwor Dugba II disclosed that, the occasion usually falls with the era where ban on drumming and noise making is observed, where by all smaller deities from various families within the Great-Ningo Traditional Area are fed.
She further noted that, the Djange Deity, which is a female god has a name as “Yoomo Aboyo Djange” is celebrated uniquely because she is the Founding Mother of Great-Ningo Traditional Area.
In an exclusive interview, Naana Dugbakuwor Dugba II urged all natives of Great-Ningo Traditional Area to contribute their quota in the development of the area in order to increase economic buoyancy.
Stressing on development and other interventions, she bemoaned that the traditional lacks a lot due to the protracted absence of a Paramount Chief for over 2 decades.
The Paramount Queen gave a clarion call on all residents to support the visions and missions of the newly installed Paramount Chief of the Ningo Traditional Area, Nene Osroagbo Djangmah XII as a visionary leader.
This, she said, would help in strengthening unity, progress and development of the Great-Ningo Traditional Area.
