The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been commended for prosecuting peaceful Presidential and Parliamentary primaries on Saturday.
Making the commendation in an interview with the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Marrer Ghana Limited and Susatgad Boat Building and Fishing Industries, Mr Novihoho Afaglo, praised the members of the party, particularly the delegates, for the incident-free voting, which has helped to present the NDC as truly peaceful and ready to take over governance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The entreprenuer singled out party members and delegates in the Volta Region for special praise because according to him, “you exhibited unprecedented unity and love at the polls.”
Regarding the 98.9 per cent overwhelming vote former President John Dramani Mahama received to be the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 general election, Mr Afaglo said it was a demonstration that the former president still had the appeal of old.
“It is with great joy that the message put across to the delegates to ensure they vote massively for former President John Dramani Mahama sank deep in their heads,” he stated.
Mr Afaglo, who is also a member of the NDC, said the election of Mr Mahama is a great opportunity for him to win the 2024 general election to prove to the whole world that “he is still the toast of Ghanaians.
“The 2024 election will be a record set in history and so we should keep asking God to give Mr Mahama strength and protection,” he said, adding that from now on every party member and other Ghanaians who wish the NDC well should see Mr Mahama as the rallying point for victory 2024.
He expressed sympathies to the losers in the primaries and appealed to join all activities to rally support for the NDC to wrestle power from the NPP.
The CEO extended special congratulations for the incumbent Ketu South Member of Parliament, Mrs Dzifa Abla Gomashie, adding that ‘your last Saturday victory was well deserved.”
Mr Afaglo praised the Election Committees of the various constituencies, both National and Regional Executives of the party, the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service for ensuring peace prevailed during the elections.
Former President Mahama polled 297,603 votes, representing 98.96 per cent of the total votes cast in the Presidential primaries to win flagbearer slot to lead the NDC in the country’s 2024 elections
