New land policy to end multiple salesv • Review of 1999 framework begins

A new land policy to curb encroachment on public lands, multiple sales, land disputes and tenure insecurity is in the offing, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced.

He said the new policy, which would replace the 1999 National Land Policy, would strengthen land administration and improve land governance in the country.

In a speech read on his behalf by his Deputy, Dr Yusif Sulemana, at the opening of a two-day inception workshop in Accra yesterday, the Minister said the review was necessary to ensure that Ghana’s land administration framework remained responsive to the country’s evolving development needs.

The workshop, organised by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and its partners, is being held under the theme: “Shaping the future of land governance: Inclusive, sustainable and responsive policies.” Read More
