The Asante Monarch, with the support of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and the State Enterprise Commission (SEC), is set to introduce an initiative dubbed ‘The Otumfuo Lottery Game’ to raise funds to support development projects within the Ashanti Kingdom
The initiative is expected to support the Otumfuo Charity Foundation through funds generated from lotteries.
As part of the preparation towards the roll out of the Otumfuo Lottery Game, a committee made up of representatives of NLA, the SEC and the Asante Monarch has presented a report on the project to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his consideration and approval.
The Director Generals of the NLA and SEC, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw and Stephen Asamoah Boateng, respectively, as well as the representative of the monarch, Nana Akwasi Prempeh, led the committee to do the presentation
Also in attendance to support the Otumfuo Lottery Game was a representative of the National Association of Private Lotto Operators and Agents, Frank Adjei
The Working Committee is responsible for the successful implementation of the Otumfuo Lottery Game. The game would be played in a form of scratch cards, number games raffles.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was impressed with the work done so far by the committee, and commended Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, for his commitment towards the development of Ghana and Asanteman.
According to the Asantehene, this initiative of NLA would help contribute in a meaningful way to the numerous development initiatives championed by the Otumfuo Charity Foundation across the country.
The foundation is supporting quality healthcare delivery, educational scholarships, job creation, infrastructure, Otumfuo Mobile Learning Project (OMLP), Social Welfare Support System., cultural heritage, support for the vulnerable, aged and orphans.
The Director-General of the NLA, Osei-Ameyaw, assured the Asantehene that NLA, with the support of SEC, the Working Committee and other stakeholders would do everything possible to ensure the successful of the Otumfuo Lottery Game to the benefit of Asanteman and Ghana.
The of SEC, Asamoah Boateng, also indicated that as a supervisory body of state enterprises, he would ensure that such a laudable project by NLA under Kofi Osei-Ameyaw became a success.
