THE Women’s Ministry of the Nsumia Church of Christ in the Nsawam-Addoagyiri Municipality on Sunday held its annual women’s programme, featuring a drama based on the Book of Ruth, one of the Old Testament books of the Bible.
The play centered on the love Ruth demonstrated toward her mother-in-law, Naomi. The programme also featured song ministrations in praise of God and highlighted the difficulties Ruth went through, as well as the humility and dedication she showed to Naomi and the entire family.
In his sermon, the preacher of the Church of Christ, Nsumia branch, Evangelist Edward Boakye, urged the congregation and Christians in general not to despair in life. He said God is aware of the trials and tribulations of His children and is always ready to deliver them.
Evangelist Boakye noted that despite the difficulties Naomi and her family went through following the death of her husband, Elimelech, they eventually emerged victorious. Most importantly, he said it was through the lineage of Ruth that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, came. This, Evangelist Boakye explained, demonstrated that God can make a way for His children even in difficult and challenging situations.
He encouraged Christians to take lessons from the story of Ruth and always put their trust in God. Evangelist Boakye also urged women to love and respect their in-laws and the entire family. He commended the women for the sterling performance they put up and encouraged them not to rest on their oars.
The Leader of the Nsumia Church of Christ Women’s Ministry, Mrs Paulina Nsuyini, in an interview, said the ministry decided to focus on the story of Ruth to teach women in the church the importance of submission, love, and respect for their in-laws in order to promote peace in marriages and families.
She added that the play also emphasised the need for women to love their husbands. Mrs Nsuyini said the programme was meant to advise members to show humility toward one another to promote peace and harmony in the church. She further stated that the programme was organised to create an opportunity for women to exhibit their talents.
