Nzema youth urged President-elect to appoint indigene as Ghana Gas CEO

The Youth Parliament at Nzema in the Western Region, has appealed to President-elect John Dramani Ma­hama to appoint an indigene of Nzema as the new Chief Execu­tive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) as he prepares to form his new administration.

According to the wing, “though the appointment would not only be a testament to his commitment to diversity and in­clusion, but also a strategic move to tap into the rich talent and expertise that Nzema people have to offer.”

 The group made the call in statement issued and signed by the Speaker, Municipal Youth Parlia­ment of the Nzema-East Munic­ipal Assembly, Mr Jonas Kabutey, copied Ghana News Agency (GNA), in Axim.

While, congratulating the President-elect on his recent election victory, the statement noted that “Ghana Gas as a state agency, played a crucial role in the country’s energy sector and we believe that an Nzema CEO would bring a unique perspective and understanding of the local context to the table.”

The group said the appoint­ment would serve as a betting tribute to Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, a renowned Nzema son and Ghana’s first President.

It noted that, “Dr Nkrumah’s vision for Ghana’s development and self-reliance continued to in­spire us and appointing an Nzema as CEO of Ghana Gas would be a meaningful way to honour his memory.”

The statement said “the appointment will be a win-win for both the Nzema people and the nation as a whole.”

The group appealed to the President-elect to consider the request, and pledged its prepared­ness to working with his adminis­tration to propel the development of the nation. —GNA
