Online fraud dominates cyber incidents in Ghana – Director-General CSA

Ghana recorded 3,876 cybersecurity incidents between January and July 2026, with online fraud accounting for 47 per cent of the cases, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has disclosed.

The Director-General of the CSA, Dr Divine Selase Agbeti, said the development required sustained efforts to combat cybercrime and strengthen the country’s capacity to detect and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

He said cyber threats could undermine public confidence in digital platforms and affect financial inclusion, electronic commerce, innovation and Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda.

Dr Agbeti made the disclosure at the opening of the National Cyber Security Awareness Month in Accra yesterday.

The programme, organised by the CSA, was held on the theme: “Securing Ghana’s Digital Finance Ecosystem: Building Trust through Collaboration and Cyber Resilience.”

He said millions of Ghanaians now relied on digital platforms to send money, pay bills, purchase goods, access banking services and conduct business, making the security of the digital finance ecosystem critical to the country’s development. Read More
