I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama on assuming office as President of the Republic, and to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for earning the trust of the Ghanaian people in the recent elections.
I also express my sincere appreciation to Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who made history as the first woman to serve as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.
We wish the President, the Vice President, and the honourable Government of Ghana continued success in leading the country toward further progress and prosperity, in fulfilment of the aspirations of the friendly Ghanaian people.
My Impressions of Ghana
From the very first moment of my arrival in Ghana, I did not feel like a stranger. I truly felt as though I was among my second family.
The warm hospitality and genuine kindness I encountered reflect the noble values deeply rooted in Ghanaian culture.
Ghana is a country rich in tourism potential — from its breathtaking natural landscapes and beautiful beaches to its historic and cultural heritage sites.
I see Ghana as a promising destination on both the African and international tourism map.
Recognition of the role
of Ghanaian women
One of the most striking observations during my time here has been the strong presence of Ghanaian women across all sectors.
I have seen them working diligently in public institutions, the private sector, marketplaces, education, and services.
The appointment of a woman as Vice President is a clear sign of real progress in empowering women and the high regard in which they are held within Ghanaian society.
Bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation
The relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Ghana are founded on a long-standing and solid partnership, and we look forward to deepening and expanding our constructive cooperation.
There are ample opportunities to further enhance this relationship, especially in light of Ghana’s political stability, economic growth, abundant natural resources, and promising human capital.
In this context, the prospects for cooperation span multiple areas, including trade and economic relations, development and humanitarian work, human resources, sports, food security, and energy, as well as many other fields of mutual interest.
In Kuwait, we believe in the importance of partnership with African nations and are committed to fostering cooperation that serves the aspirations of both sides.
The role of the Kuwait
Fund for development
in Ghana
I would like to commend the vital role played by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in supporting development projects in Ghana.
For over four decades, the Fund has contributed to financing key projects in infrastructure, energy, education, and agriculture.
In 2022, it provided funding under the Ghana CARES programme amounting to nearly USD 70 million, to support initiatives in agriculture, education, and water.
It also financed the rehabilitation of the Dome-Kitase Road, with a contribution exceeding USD 24 million, aimed at improving transportation infrastructure.
Earlier contributions included funding for the Kpong Hydropower Station, and feasibility studies for health and environmental projects.
These contributions reflect Kuwait’s commitment to supporting sustainable development efforts in its partner countries — with Ghana being a key partner.
Health awareness in
Ghanaian society
One of the most remarkable things I have noticed during my time in Ghana is the near absence of smoking in public spaces.
So far, I have not encountered a single smoker — not in public areas, the workplace, or official events.
This reflects a high level of health awareness among Ghanaians and a commendable commitment to a healthy lifestyle free of harmful habits.
It also highlights the positive role played by educational, media, and health institutions in promoting a culture of prevention — a model truly worthy of recognition.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I would like to reaffirm that the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Accra is committed to supporting all initiatives that strengthen bilateral relations and foster continuous engagement with official and community stakeholders in Ghana.
We remain open to any efforts that contribute to advancing our shared cooperation and look forward to a promising future that unites our two countries through mutual understanding and productive partnership.
