The Police Administration has apologised to victims who were assaulted by some policemen in the Northern Region which led to the interdiction of four policemen.
This follows a visit to the victims by the leadership of Northern Regional Police Command, led by Commissioner of Police(COP) Timothy Yoosa Bonga last Wednesday and Thursday.
The Acting Director General of the Police Public Affairs, Assistant Commission of Police(ACP) Kwesi Ofori disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in Accra yesterday.
ACP Ofori stated that the acting Inspector General of Police(IGP)Dr George Akuffo Dampare had called and spoke to affected victims on phone to reassure them, the matter would be dealt with decisively.
He said the police had since facilitated the medical treatments of the victims and paid for the full cost of the treatments.
“This is in addition to psychological support provided them by a team of clinical psychologists sent from Accra at the behest of the Police Administration,” he added.
He commended the Regional Commander, and his team for acting swiftly to deepen the cordial relationship between the police and the community.
ACP Ofori appreciated and commended members of the community for their understanding whiles and gave the assurance that disciplinary action would be taken against the interdicted policemen.
