The Ghana Police Hospital has officially unveiled plans to mark its Golden Jubilee, commemorating fifty years of dedicated service since its establishment in 1976.
The milestone celebration, themed “Fifty Years of Excellence: Delivering Quality Healthcare Through Discipline, Compassion and Teamwork,” aims to highlight the institution’s legacy of professionalism, innovation, and community impact.
The Hospital’s 50th Anniversary Master Plan, prepared by the Police Hospital @50 Planning Committee, chaired by Chief Superintendent Simon Agyenim Boateng with DSP Rafik Mahama as Secretary, and shared with The Ghanaian Times, provides a comprehensive roadmap for the celebrations.
It outlines strategic directions, operational timelines, and responsibilities across pre-anniversary, anniversary month, and post-anniversary phases to ensure a coordinated, memorable, and nationally significant event.
The pre-anniversary activities, scheduled from January 2025 through July 2026, include a Health Walk, Float & Aerobics, hospital and environs clean-up, blood donation drives, free medical screenings, and the launch of the 50th Anniversary logo. These initiatives, according to the master plan, are designed to engage staff, partners, and the wider community while promoting health awareness and the hospital’s public service mission. Staff engagement programmes and media campaigns are also planned to build momentum ahead of the main celebration.
The peak of the celebration, scheduled for August or September 2026, will feature a series of flagship events, including the Opening Ceremony and Exhibition, Anniversary Symposium, Awards and Recognition Night, Grand Durbar with the launch of a Legacy Project, and an Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service. These events are intended to honour past and present staff, showcase the hospital’s achievements, and reinforce partnerships with national leaders and the public.
Post-anniversary activities, running from October to December 2026, will focus on leaving a lasting legacy, with plans including the planting of 50 commemorative trees, commencement of the Legacy Project, release of a 50th Anniversary documentary, publication of a commemorative book, and appreciation engagements with sponsors and stakeholders.
The Police Hospital’s management emphasised that the Golden Jubilee is not only a celebration of the past fifty years but also a commitment to future growth, improved healthcare delivery, and strengthened community partnerships. Through this carefully structured celebration, the hospital seeks to reinforce its reputation as a leading health institution within the Ghana Police Service and the nation at large.
