The Nkwanta District Police Command in the Nkwanta-South Municipality of the Oti Region has launched a manhunt for the murderers of a 36-year-old man, Thomas Adon, at Keri in the municipality.

Briefing journalists in Dambai, the Oti Regional Public Affairs Officer of the Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr John Nchor, said on the June 8, 2026 following a report that a man was shot and killed at Keri, a joint police and military team proceeded to the scene.

He continued that the body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple suspected gunshot wounds and stressed that a search conducted in the area led to the recovery of a piece of wood, 15 spent cartridges, and 5 live ‘BB’ and ‘AA’ cartridges, which were secured as exhibits.

He said the body was conveyed to the Saint Joseph’s Hospital mortuary at Nkwanta for preservation and post-mortem examination as investigations continued.

According to him, the joint security team also engaged the chief, elders, and the family members of the deceased, expressed condolences, and assured them of a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation to arrest the culprit.

DSP Nchor, therefore, urged the residents to remain calm, cooperate with the security agencies, and refrain from acts of reprisal that could undermine the peace and security of the area.

He said the joint security team at Nkwanta were committed to ensuring that the perpetrators were brought to justice and encouraged the residents to provide credible and timely information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
