Police National, the men’s football team of the Ghana Police Service, on Wednesday defeated Fettehman United 4-3 on penalties to be crowned champions of the Central Regional Football Association (CRFA) Division Two Middle League.

This was after drawing 1-1 in regulation time of the match played at the Tuba Astro Turf.

After playing to a pulsating goalless first half, Police National broke the deadlock on the 50th minute when striker Corporal Michael Gyamfi rose to head home a free kick delivered by Lance Corporal Divine Dugbatey.

They held onto that solitary lead until two minutes into time added on when they conceded from the same manner when Emmanuel Bonney crossed for Abubakar Haruna to head home.

In the shoot-outs, the trio of Abubakar Haruna, Emmanuel Bonney and Joshua Adjei scored for Fettehman United while Ebenezer Adu and skipper Eric Sarfo missed their kicks.

McVince Oppong Anderson missed his kick for Police while the quartet of Richmond Gyeabour, William Adu Asare, Perez Nketia and Nathaniel Quaye scored for Police National and won the game.

That victory was the icing on a 100 per cent record in the competition, as they defeated Abaasa-based Frienhoff Academy 2-0 in the opening fixture, followed by a 3-1 win over debutants, Debolase Young Stars, before a narrow 1-0 win over Genesis Essaman and Tumantu Domenasi FC to make it to the finals.

They thus qualify as the Central Regional representative to the 2025/25 Access Bank Division One League (DOL) league season.
