Police seek man inflicting machete wounds on victims

The police in Ashanti have launched a manhunt for the arrest of a 42-year-old man for assaulting and inflicting machete wounds on two persons at Afrancho in the Suame District of Ashanti.

Yaw Boateng, also known as (aka) Ajankugya and Bonti Killer, according to the police, is believed to be hiding in the environs of Kukuom and Sankore both in the Ahafo Region.

A statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Godwin Ahianyo, urged the public to furnish the police with information about the whereabouts of the suspect as the police was making frantic effort to arrest him for prosecution.

According to ASP Ahianyo the police have in possession a video in which the suspect was seen violently assaulting his victims, Dickson Asante, 42, and Nana Osei, 55, on September 1, 2019. 

ASP Ahianyo indicated that, preliminary investigation by the police revealed that, Boateng violently attacked a fishmonger at the Afrancho market in Kumasi, and when the victims tried to intervene, he became violent and attacked them and in the process stripped one of the victims naked and inflicted machete wounds on both and fled the scene. 

The victims lodged a formal complaint with the police at Afrancho and they were issued police medical form to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
