The latest figure marks the seventh consecutive month of decline in producer inflation and on a month-on-month basis, however, the PPI rose to 2.1 per cent in August from 1.5 per cent in July.
According to a release issued by the GSS in Accra yesterday, the August rate was 0.6 percentage points lower than that of July 2025, and 30.2 percentage points lower than the rate recorded in August 2024.
It said the decline was mainly driven by the manufacturing sub-sector, which makes up 35 per cent of the index.
The GSS indicated that manufacturing eased from 3.2 per cent in July to 1.6 per cent in August, shedding 1.6 percentage points.
“Within this category, the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers recorded 35.8 per cent, textiles 33.2 per cent, and rubber and plastic products 21.6 per cent,” it said.

Construction inflation, it stated also moderated to 4.3 per cent from 5.3 per cent. Specialised construction activities recorded 5.6 per cent, civil engineering 11.6 per cent, while construction of buildings fell sharply to -11.2 per cent.
The GSS said the services sector recorded a negative PPI of -0.3 per cent in August, down from 0.5 per cent in July and that was influenced mainly by water transportation (32.4 per cent), air transport (21.6 per cent), and programming and broadcasting activities (11.8 per cent).
It said accommodation and food services continued to decline, dropping from -2.7 per cent in July to -3.1 per cent in August and transportation and storage recorded -8.0 per cent, while information and communication registered 1.5 per cent.
“Mining and quarrying, the largest sector with a weight of 43.7 per cent, recorded a slight increase, rising from 4.6 per cent in July to 4.9 per cent in August,” GSS said.
It said Mining support services registered 34.5 per cent, mining of metal ores 29.5 per cent, while extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas declined by -23.9 per cent and electricity and gas recorded 6.9 per cent, while water supply, sewerage and waste management stood at 3.4 per cent
