President John Dramani Mahama has called for a coordinated approach to Ghana’s engagement with global philanthropic and development partners, with the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) positioned to coordinate grants and other development support in line with national priorities.
He said Ghana could no longer afford a fragmented approach to development assistance, with different partners pursuing isolated interventions.
“There is the need for Government and its international partners to agree on priority areas and channel resources towards them. Let’s sit with our partners, agree what the priorities are for each country,” President Mahama said.
The President made the remarks when the Chairman of the Open Society Foundations (OSF), Alex Soros, paid a courtesy call on him in New York, as Ghana stepped up engagements with global philanthropic and development partners on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly.
He said the expanded mandate assigned to MiDA in 2025 was intended to make the Authority the government’s focal point for coordinating philanthropic, grant and humanitarian partnerships. Read More
