An officer stationed at the Nsawam Prisons has been gruesomely murdered at Iron City, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya Municipality of the Central Region.

The remains of the deceased officer, identified as Gideon Adu-Boakye, were recovered by personnel from the Ngleshie Amanfro District Police Command on Monday morning at the intersection near the Hope of Restoration School, situated in the Red Bulb area of Iron City-Kasoa, just a short distance from the officer’s residence.

The body exhibited multiple severe machete wounds and was discovered in a drainage ditch at the school junction.

According to Eric Akoto, a relative who spoke to Asaase Radio, the deceased departed from home on Sunday morning but failed to return, which was out of character for him.

The family, he said, grew increasingly concerned as they were unable to reach him by phone and subsequently went to the Ngleshie Amanfro police station to file an official report.

Mr Akoto stated that the family was met with disbelief upon seeing images of the body, which confirmed it was their relative.

The family has urged state security agencies to conduct a prompt investigation into the incident and apprehend those responsible, as they believe his murder was a calculated act.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the police hospital morgue while investigations are ongoing.

A team of officers from the prison service has visited the family to express their condolences and offer their full support in the investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Metrotvonline
