Prof. Adenutsi appointed Africa Education Director of GIFTiC

AN academic, Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi, has been appointed as the new Director of Education (Africa) for the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC).

The Education Director of GIFTiC, Mrs Miranda Nana-Yaa Cole, in a statement yesterday copied to The Ghanaian Times, said the appointment of Prof. Adenutsi marked a significant step in strengthening the GITFiC’s commitment to research-driven dialogue, capacity building, and policy-oriented education in international trade, finance, and economics within the framework of the AfCFTA, which it had championed over the past seven years (since 2019).

“Professor Deodat E. Adenutsi brings to GITFiC a distinguished career in academia, research, and higher education leadership,” she said.

Mrs Cole indicated that Prof. Adenutsi had over 25 years of extensive experience in teaching economics, development finance, research, policy management, and multi-donor programme management.

“As a seasoned trainer and consultant, he has delivered capacity-building programmes for governments, financial institutions, SMEs, and civil society organisations across Africa,” the Education Director of GIFTiC stressed.

She said Prof. Adenutsi held a PhD in Development Finance from the University of Stellenbosch and has served as a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC, USA.

She said Prof. Adenutsi had published extensively in internationally indexed journals on digital finance, international economics and finance, corporate governance, financial development, and macroeconomic policy.

She further said Prof. Adenutsi was widely recognised for his contributions to scholarships and his dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals and policymakers.

“In his new role, Professor Adenutsi will lead the development and implementation of the GITFiC-AfCFTA Educational Strategy underpinned by the Agenda 2031, which comprises the Global Debt Initiative and the AfCFTA Implementation Support Initiatives, including executive training programs, policy research initiatives, academic partnerships, and professional development modules,” Mrs Cole stated.

She said the academic would oversee the effective implementation of GITFiC-AfCFTA designed Curriculum for Africa’s Tertiary Institutions, which is currently running smoothly in some selected universities in Africa.

“He will also ensure academic rigor across all training platforms and foster collaborations between academia, industry, and governments in Africa to enhance knowledge exchange programs and practical impact,” she stated.

GIFTiC is a think tank, which among others, champions the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) initiative.
