Dr. Ekua Fowah Amoakoh, Deputy Spokesperson to former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has called for the removal of the Energy Minister over the return of persistent power outages, widely known as dumsor.
She expressed disappointment in the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama, stating that the issue appears to be resurfacing despite earlier expectations that it would be addressed more decisively.
According to her in an interview on Joy News, the outages had become strongly associated with Mahama’s first term in office, and she had hoped his return would bring a more effective solution.
She noted that many people still link the president to the power crisis, adding that even international media reports have previously highlighted the situation during his earlier tenure.
Dr. Amoakoh indicated that the current situation is troubling, especially as the opposition, now in government, had criticised similar challenges in the past and claimed to have solutions.
She argued that the administration is now facing the same problem it once condemned, and criticised what she described as a repetition of past explanations rather than new approaches to resolve the crisis.
She urged the government to take stronger action to address the outages and improve power supply across the country.
