The General Overseer of Alabaster International Ministry, Rev. Kofi Oduro, has criticised National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Baba Jamal over alleged vote-buying incidents during the party’s parliamentary candidate elections in the Ayawaso East constituency.
Speaking during a sermon, Rev. Oduro expressed concern over a video he said showed a young man admitting to distributing television sets and other items to influence votes during the primaries.
According to the pastor, the individual claimed he sets aside large sums of money every year to give out as gifts, a statement Rev. Oduro described as troubling.
He questioned the source of the money allegedly used for the vote-buying exercise and demanded accountability.
“Where did the money come from? If someone claims to put aside two million cedis to give out, has he paid taxes on it?” Rev. Oduro asked.
He described the alleged act as an insult to the Ghanaian people, saying politicians are given privileges, positions, and allowances but still abuse the trust placed in them.
Rev. Oduro warned that those involved in vote buying and corruption will eventually face consequences, adding that such practices undermine democracy and good governance.
He further stated that politicians who engage in such acts should be held accountable, regardless of their status or political affiliation.
