The Accra Circuit Court has asked a salesgirl to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for six months, after she was found culpable of GH¢25,181 theft.
Regina Amegbe, who was caught on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) stealing, denied the offence, but paid the amount involved in the course of the trial.
Police Chief Inspector Christine Bansah had earlier told the court that Mr Isaac OseiDarko, the complainant, owned men’s wear boutique in Accra.
The court heard that Regina was employed by the complainant as a salesgirl, who kept keys to theshop after close of work.
Chief InspBansah said on March 3, 2021, at about 9.30 pm, Amegbeallegedly called Mr Darko to tell him that thieves had broken into the shop and madeaway with a number of men’s wears.
The court heard that Mr Darko rushed to the shop, only for him to discover on the CCTVfixed at the boutique that Amegbe on that same day, at about 7pm, after she closed from work, went back to the shop.
The court presided over by Mrs Susanna Edufulheard that the convict came out of the shop with a black polythene under her armpit accompanied by a man.
Chief InspBansah said the CCTV captured the two in the shop packing men’s suits, trousers, shirts, shoes, T-shirts and perfumes, valued GH¢25,181.
She said the complainant arrested Reginaand handed her to the police.
Chief InspBansah said Amegbein a cautioned statement admitted the offence, and that she was tricked by her accomplice, who was on the run, to steal the items. – GNA
