Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Savannah Region have undergone a four-day capacity-building training to enhance their knowledge and skills in local governance and development administration.
The training, organised by the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council (SRCC) in Bole, brought together MDCEs from various assemblies to strengthen their leadership and managerial capabilities for the effective administration of their respective jurisdictions.
Speaking at the training, the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr Salisu Be-Awuribe, said the programme formed part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of the MDCEs to promote effective governance, improve development planning and facilitate sustainable development across the region.
He said the training was designed to equip the MDCEs with the knowledge and tools required to provide quality leadership and effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Mr Be-Awuribe said it would deepen their understanding of local governance, development planning and budgeting, enabling them to improve service delivery and respond more effectively to the needs of their communities.
He said the programme also provided an opportunity for the SRCC and the MDCEs to exchange ideas and share experiences on innovative approaches to accelerating development in the region.
The Minister said strengthening the leadership capabilities of the MDCEs would enhance their commitment to delivering on their mandate and promoting development at the grassroots.
He added that the training reflected the region’s commitment to strengthening local governance and equipping its leaders to address the development needs of their communities effectively.
Mr Be-Awuribe urged the MDCEs to prioritise the provision of basic infrastructure and other development projects to transform their communities, improve living standards and promote holistic growth.
He also encouraged them to pursue development initiatives that empowered communities and enabled residents to contribute meaningfully to productivity and socio-economic development.
The Minister assured the assemblies of the continued support of the SRCC in facilitating programmes aimed at strengthening their capacity to deliver the infrastructure and services required for sustainable development.
He said the Regional Coordinating Council remained committed to working with the assemblies to advance the progress and development of the region.
Mr Be-Awuribe urged the MDCEs to continue sharing ideas and proposals with the SRCC as it prepared to roll out more development initiatives to improve the livelihoods of people across the region.
