A 30th minute blistering strike from defender James Sewornu earned all three points for Hearts of Oak as they beat Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 in the match-day 12 Ghana Premier League (GPL) tie at the Duns Park.
Hearts zoomed into the game very determined to beat the home team, piling pressure on the league’s debutantes whilst defending stoutly, too.
On the half-hour mark, Afriyie Barnieh took a flight down the right, outwitted two defenders and set up the advancing Sewornu who unleashed a right-footed thunderbolt to the far right of the net.
It was a magnificent goal by all standards that left a few supporters of the home team applauding the scorer’s effort.
The Bibiani boys fought tremendously throughout the afternoon for the equaliser, but the Hearts’ defence remained resolute.
Saturday’s victory took the Phobians to seventh place on the log.
