SIC Life Insurance Limited has opened a new office in Goaso, in the Ahafo Region, to improve access to life insurance services and deepen insurance coverage across the country.
The new branch forms part of the company’s nationwide expansion drive, aimed at bringing life insurance services closer to individuals, families and businesses in growing regional centres.
The inaugural ceremony, held on Friday, brought together traditional leaders, government officials, religious leaders, business executives and residents, including the Goasohemaa, Nana Afia Serwaa I; the Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North, Mr Joseph Akparibo; Reverend Douglas Biney of the Methodist Church; the Managing Director of SIC Life Insurance Limited, Mr Solomon Twum Barima; and members of the company’s management team.
Addressing the gathering, the Goasohemaa welcomed the company to the regional capital and commended SIC Life for investing in the municipality.
She described the opening of the office as timely, saying it would improve access to financial protection while supporting the area’s social and economic development.
The Queen mother urged the company to maintain high standards of professionalism and excellent customer service, stressing that trust remained the foundation of the life insurance business.
She also encouraged farmers, artisans, traders and other residents to take advantage of life insurance to protect their families against unexpected events.
The MCE, Mr Akparibo, said the establishment of the office supported government’s efforts to promote economic growth, create jobs and improve financial inclusion.
He noted that Goaso’s status as capital of the Ahafo Region had attracted new investment and created opportunities for businesses, and expressed confidence that the new office would improve access to insurance services while creating employment for young people in the municipality.
The Managing Director of SIC Life, Mr Twum Barima, said the decision to establish the branch was informed by Goaso’s rapid growth as an administrative and commercial centre.
He noted that many residents had previously had to travel long distances to access life insurance services, at considerable inconvenience and cost.
“Our goal is to ensure that no one is denied financial protection because of distance,” he said.
He explained that the new office would offer a full range of services, including the sale of insurance policies, premium payments, claims processing, customer support and financial advisory services, and said the branch would employ staff familiar with the local environment and the needs of customers, to ensure faster and more efficient service.
Mr Twum Barima stressed the importance of life insurance in protecting families from financial hardship during difficult times, and encouraged individuals, churches, farmer groups, cooperatives, schools and businesses across the Ahafo Region to subscribe to the company’s insurance products.
He also announced improvements to the company’s flagship Sika Plan, saying subscribers could now enjoy life insurance cover of up to GH¢150,000, an enhancement he said reflected SIC Life’s commitment to providing affordable insurance with meaningful financial protection.
He said the opening of the Goaso office was not merely a business expansion, but a demonstration of the company’s confidence in the future of Goaso and the Ahafo Region.
The new branch forms part of SIC Life’s broader strategy to deepen insurance penetration and make quality life insurance services more accessible to communities across Ghana.
