DOHA, Qatar – The much-anticipated “Finalissima” between Spain and Argentina faces uncertainty after the Qatar Football Association suspended all soccer tournaments indefinitely. The decision follows recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran and retaliatory missile strikes in the Arabian Peninsula.

The match, set for March 27 at Lusail Stadium, was to feature stars such as Lamine Yamal and Lionel Messi. In a statement, the Qatar FA announced:

“All tournaments, competitions and matches are postponed, effective immediately and until further notice. New dates will be announced through official channels.”

The final decision on the game lies with UEFA and CONMEBOL, the governing bodies for European and South American football.

Other regional competitions have also been affected:

Countries across the Middle East have remained on high alert since Saturday after air strikes by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, aimed at reducing the country’s military capabilities.
