All the boards of state corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous government have been dissolved.

A statement issued in Accra yesterday signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to President John Mahama, said the move was in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

The said the direction for the dissolution of the boards took immediate effect and was part of efforts to restructure state institutions under the new administration.

It said the acting spokesperson to the President, had formally informed affected members of their tenure’s end with the new government’s assumption of office.

“In accordance with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), all members of statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the former President or a former Minister of State ceased to hold office on January 7 2025, following the assumption of office of President John Dramani Mahama,” the statement announced.

It said the directive exempted independent constitutional bodies, ensuring their continued operation.

The statement said the government would reconstitute the affected boards and commissions in line with their enabling laws in the coming weeks, indicating that “This move follows a series of actions by President Mahama aimed at ensuring smooth governance and alignment with his administration’s vision for state institutions.”
