The Talensi Mining Communities Initiatives (TAMCI) has strongly condemned an alleged assault on its chairman, Mr. Bismarck Zumah, by a group of unidentified men.
The incident reportedly occurred on November 14, 2025, at the forecourt of the Talensi Traditional Council.
Addressing a press conference in Bolgatanga on Saturday, TAMCI Secretary Mr. Gilbert Landola described the attack as “unfortunate and bizarre” and called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
He explained that the assault took place shortly after a stakeholder meeting at the traditional council, during which Mr. Zumah was interacting with an official from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
According to eyewitnesses, some of the attackers were identified, with the name of Mr. Richard Sunday Yinbil, Secretary to Tongrana Kubilsong Nalebtang, being mentioned. Mr. Landola said Mr. Zumah had since received medical treatment and been discharged.
Expressing concern over what he described as the “lukewarm” response of the police, Mr. Landola noted that three weeks after a formal complaint was lodged, no arrests had been made.
“As we condemn this barbaric act in the strongest possible terms, we remind the police to, as a matter of urgency, effect the necessary arrests,” he stated.
TAMCI reiterated that violence has no place in leadership, dialogue, or community development.
