Team Strongman Foundation Announces Peace Walk to Promote Unity Ahead of 2024 Elections

As Ghana heads into the 2024 general elections, calls for peaceful coexistence and civic responsibility have intensified. In this light, the Team Strongman Foundation, in collaboration with Braves Events Management, has announced its flagship event, the Peace Walk, to promote unity and conflict-free elections.

The walk, scheduled for November 23, 2024, aims to rally citizens around the shared values of peace, responsibility, and national unity.

Participants will walk through key locations in Accra, beginning at Bannerman Park, Korle Gonno, and proceeding through Mamprobi, Korle-Bu, Accra Jamestown, Ministries, and concluding at the iconic Independence Square.

The organisers anticipate the event will attract over 3,000 participants, including representatives from various organisations, community groups, and individuals who are committed to safeguarding Ghana’s democratic principles.

Speaking about the significance of the event in Accra yesterday, the Founder of Team Strongman Foundation, Stephen Nii Afotey Odai, emphasised the critical role citizens play in ensuring a peaceful electoral process.

“The Peace Walk is more than just an even, it’s a movement that underscores the power of unity and civic responsibility, and we want to show the world that Ghanaians value peace above all else, especially during elections, which are often tense periods,” he said.

According to Mr Odai, the walk will symbolise Ghana’s commitment to democracy and offer a platform for individuals to advocate for peace. “Every step we take is a step towards a brighter, united future for our country,” he added.

The collaboration between Team Strongman Foundation and Braves Events Management reflects a shared commitment to fostering community involvement.

He said invitations have been sent to groups and organisations to participate by wearing branded attire to represent their affiliations, enhancing visibility and solidarity during the walk.

“We are encouraging everyone to join us because the Peace Walk isn’t just for one group; it’s for every Ghanaian who values our nation’s stability and democracy.”

As the election period approaches, Mr Odai explained that events like the Peace Walk serve as a timely reminder of the importance of unity in diversity.

He further added that the route of the walk, which traverses historic and symbolic locations in Accra, is a deliberate effort to connect communities and foster a collective sense of responsibility for maintaining peace.

He expressed hope that the Peace Walk will inspire similar initiatives nationwide and contribute to a conflict-free electoral process. With Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa, the Peace Walk promises to reinforce the country’s legacy of peaceful transitions and commitment to national unity.
