The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has described the demise of its late President, Torgbor Mensah, as a monumental loss to the global advertising fraternity in which he was a colossus.
To AAG, Mr Tee, as they affectionately called him, was a “quintessential self-made man” who rose, by dint of hard work, from a graphic designer to become by all standards the doyen of the advertising industry in Ghana and Africa.
“MrTorgbor Mensah [was] an embodiment of commerce, creativity and communication” said a statement issued by MansaAmoa-Awuah, Vice President of the Association, in Accra on Monday.
The late Mr Mensah, who was also the President of the Ghana Chapter of the International Advertising Association and the Vice President of the Corporate Member Development –Africa, passed on last Saturday.
The statement said he was first elected as AAG President in 2018 and re-elected in 2020 for a second time, a position he held until his demise.
“As the President of the AAG, he worked tirelessly to ensure that, the process for the passing of the Adverting Council Bill was progressing steadily. His passion for Accra and indeed the development of local assemblies caused him to support to the Make Greater Accra Work Again campaign’, it said.
The statement said ‘ Mr Tee’ who was in April selected as juror for the 2021 Cannes Lions Awards Outdoor, was the Executive Chairman of the Great Argon Holdings, the largest Integrated Marketing Communications Group in Ghana and also the founder of DDP Outdoor Limited , the country’s biggest outdoor adverting company with affiliations in several African countries.
The ‘advertising giant’ was also a Past President of the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) and the Lions Club. The statement said funeral arrangement would be announced in due course.
