THE Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) has led a strong Ghanaian delegation to the 4th Z-Summit in Zanzibar, positioning Ghana as a key partner in advancing multi-destination tourism across Africa.

The summit, which opened on Wednesday, attracts over 300 international buyers from more than 20 countries and 120 exhibitors, cementing its status as the region’s premier travel and tourism marketplace.

TOUGHA President Ms Yvonne Donkor described Ghana’s participation as “intentional, strategic and forward-looking,” emphasizing that the delegation aims to “connect, collaborate and co-create the future of African tourism.” She highlighted that modern travelers seek authentic experiences, meaningful connections, and cultural stories—elements that summits like Z-Summit help to showcase.

Ms Donkor stressed that no single country can fully harness Africa’s tourism potential alone. By collaborating, West and East Africa can develop multi-destination circuits that keep travelers longer on the continent and deepen engagement.

A key highlight of her address was the launch of Air Tanzania’s direct flight to Ghana, described as “more than an aviation milestone; it is a bridge between West and East Africa,” opening opportunities for Ghana-Tanzania-Zanzibar tour circuits and joint marketing initiatives.

The two-day summit provides a platform for networking, business-to-business engagements, and strategic partnerships aimed at boosting intra-African tourism and expanding Africa’s global market share. Ms Donkor concluded by urging participants to leverage the event to build sustainable, trust-based partnerships that drive shared growth and long-term transformation in Africa’s tourism industry.
