A six unit classroom block, a library, and teachers’ common room has been completed for the Tsiyinu M.A Basic School to improve on quality teaching and learning in the area.

The classroom project, which was facilitated by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu-North, Mr Edem Agbana, was funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) which started in 2019, and was abandoned, compelled school authorities to hold classes under sheds over the years

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, who inaugurated the facility, lauded the MP for the completion of the project, stressing that it would definitely attract more pupils to the school and promote quality education in the municipality.

Mr Gunu said the government was committed to the completion of abandoned projects in the region to address the infrastructure deficit at the various institutions including schools, adding that residents of the Volta Region would soon appreciate the government’s development activities.

The Regional Minister also stated that the government would strategically address the development needs of the people to enable them to appreciate the efforts being made to improve their standard of living through accelerated growth.

Mr Gunu urged the students to take advantage of the available opportunities in education to develop themselves, stressing the need for them to justify the investment government and their parents were making in them.

The MP for Ketu-North, Mr Agbana, assured that he was committed to the development of the area, and called for collaboration to ensure that priority projects would be executed for the accelerated growth of the area.

Mr Agbana said the government was committed to the completion of 42 abandoned GETFund projects in the constituency, and appealed to parents to complement the efforts of teachers by ensuring that their wards attended school regularly.

He cautioned parents against taking their children to the farm, which would definitely affect their education, saying education was the engine of growth of every community, therefore, conscious efforts should be made to educate the youth for a brighter future.

The MP also called on teachers, pupils in particular and the members of the community in general to adopt the culture of maintenance to prolong the lifespan of the building for the benefit of the present and the future generations.

The Ketu-North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Reverend Martin Amenaki, noted that the new classroom facility had provided a conducive school environment, and assured the people that the assembly would continue to collaborate effectively with the MP and other development partners to bring development to the area.

Reverend Amenaki also said the assembly had embarked on a number of development projects in the area, which reflected the resetting agenda of the government to enhance the living standard of the people.
