At this year’s Central Region Music Awards which took place at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) at Cape Coast recently, Rev. Alexander Bruce-Ghartey, popularly known as Uncle Ato, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Heritage Promotions, the organisers of the award scheme, noted that the lifetime achievement award was conferred on the native of the region for the positive impact in the Ghanaian music industry.
They said: “UncleAto, who hails from Winneba, looking at the works you’ve done and the lives God has touched through your songs and ministry, you were just perfect for it.”
In 2016, Uncle Ato, the Adze wo fie a oye man, was honoured with the Life Changing Award by the University of Cape Coast SRC. It is therefore not surprising that Heritage Promotions also spotted him for this prestigious Lifetime Award category for this year.
Uncle Ato is mainly popular for his spirit-filled live worship 2003, when he released his first album.
As part of his Christmas gift to music lovers, Uncle Ato is set to premiere a video of his new single dubbed ‘Obetsiewo Mpaebo’ on December 24, and would be followed by his 7th album next year, an album in memory of his late mother, who introduced him to praying and singing.
