A US-based Ghanaian Ex-footballer, Mr John Samuel Kwabena Asiedu, will today cut sod for the construction of the Bright Future Sporting and Education Village at Komenda, Domenase in the Central Region.
The ultra-modern sporting complex which covers 30-acres of land will have mini parks, hotels, first class training facilities, gyms and schools which will be opened to the public.
In an interview with the Times Sports, Mr Aseidu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bright Future Sporting and Education Village said “The talents in Ghana need the right nurturing to be on top.”
“Most of the football academies in Ghana are not up to the European level because they lack a lot with regard to infrastructure and logistics. With the exception of Red Bull and WAFA, the rest are below standard,” he said.
Mr Aseidu who doubles as the Director of Coaching at FC Golden States, San Diego in the United States said the village would be an avenue where young lads will reach unprecedented heights in education and sports.
He added that there will be exchange programmes between Bright Future and schools from the United States.
Speaking on the project’s benefits, Mr Aseidu said it will serve both local and foreign clubs with modern-day football administration.
“Clubs in Ghana and outside are eligible to use the centre for their pre-season campaigns and also host international events. We are looking at having the first ultra-modern European standard football academy in Africa to produce world class footballers,” he added.
Having left the shores of Ghana in 1999, Johnson first landed in Netherlands before moving to Belgium where he played top-flight football before moving to the United States in 2007.
With over 25 years of Coaching, the US-certified trainer runs the FC Golden States for the past 12 years, having also worked with Right to Dream and New Life Academy in Ghana.
The event will be graced by traditional leaders, ex-footballers, coaches and other top personalities from Ghana and the United States.
