Three former students of Hohoe E.P. Senior High School have been arrested by the Volta North Regional Police Command for allegedly vandalising school property after completing their final examinations.

The arrests followed the circulation of a viral video purportedly showing a group of former students destroying the school’s water pipeline shortly after leaving campus.

A statement signed by the Volta North Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector Felix Kwao, and copied to The Ghanaian Times, said the school reported the incident to the police on June 19, 2026.

According to the statement, about five former students captured in the video were alleged to have unlawfully damaged the school’s water pipeline after writing their final examinations and leaving the campus.

It noted that the police launched intelligence operations, leading to the arrest of Rashid Suraj Dakpo, 19, Alhassan Mohammed, 20, and Abdul Kadri Abdulai, 20.

The suspects have been handed over to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with investigations and will be processed for court.

The statement mentioned that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects captured in the video.

The police expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of students vandalising school property after completing their final examinations.

According to the command, such acts undermine discipline and place additional financial burdens on educational institutions already operating under limited resources.

It warned that persons found culpable of destroying school property would face the full rigours of the law regardless of their status.

“The Volta North Regional Police Command has noted that this behaviour is becoming increasingly common,” the statement said.

The command further urged students to celebrate the completion of their examinations responsibly and avoid actions that could attract criminal sanctions.

It also appealed to parents, guardians and teachers to intensify efforts to educate young people on the consequences of vandalism and other unlawful conduct.
