‘We’ll investigate parliamentary hopefuls to disqualify those found corruptible’

Mr John Boadu, General Secretary, NPP

Richard Akwasi Asante, the Second Vice Chairman for Suame Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured that executives of the party will investigate prospective parliamentarians and disqualify those with corruptible behaviours and characters.

“The title honourable, should only be used for persons with unquestionable behaviour and character, party executives will disqualify or prevent such dishonest persons from entering parliament house because we need to bring to a halt, any form of corruptible behaviour and character before opening and filing of nominations for prospective parliamentarians,” he cautioned.

Mr Asante noted that the party’s internal regulations prevented aspirants from embarking on any direct or indirect form of campaign, before they are authorised to do so by the party, saying: “Campaigning prior to the filing of nominations at the constituency or regional levels, is against the party’s internal regulations so parliamentary hopefuls should stop any form of campaign before the filing of nominations.”

He expressed dissatisfaction about the unauthorised forms of campaigns by parliamentary hopefuls in the various constituencies until the appropriate time as directed by the National Executive Committee since any form of campaign breaches the party’s rules of engagement adding that “constituency executives can formally petition the regional or national executives with material evidence on such deviant behaviour and character.

“Such behaviour and character flouts the rules of engagement on the conduct of the party’s parliamentary primaries and constitutes lawful grounds for disqualification. With evidence, constituency executives can lodge a complaint at the regional or national level for such deviant parliamentary hopefuls to be disqualified because such conduct undermines the structure of the party from the constituency to regional levels,” Mr Asante warned. -kasapafmonline.com
