The White Volta is rising dangerously at Nawuni, with the river reaching 23.85 feet and placing communities along its banks on high alert as fears of flooding mount.

The latest reading, recorded by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on Saturday, August 23, falls within its 20-to-30-foot critical flood range, raising concerns over homes, farms and livelihoods.

Although the river has not yet burst its banks, the swollen waters have heightened anxiety among residents, particularly farmers whose crops and livelihoods are concentrated along the riverbanks. Read More
