Yendi MP provides GH¢800,000 health facility for Sunson community

An amount of GH¢800,000 Health Cen­tre for the people of Sun­son and its surrounding commu­nities in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region was over the weekend inaugurated by the Mem­ber of Parliament (MP) for Yendi, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama.

The facility include 12 -bed ca­pacity, delivery room, records, out­patient patient department(OPD), pharmacy, children’s ward, male and female wards, offices for the staff and computer room.

The Centre, which is expected to offer life-saving treatments for the indigenes of Sunson enclaves, was solely funded by the MP, as part of his efforts to improve qua­ity health delivery in the area.

This is the fifth health Centre Alhaji Mahama had helped to build in the municipality, and designed to provide affordable health care to reduce the need for patients to seek treatment outside their communities.

The MP, as part of his efforts also cut sod for commencement of a four-bedroom accommodation facility to be constructed for the health workers within the commu­nity, expected to be completed in six month.

The health facility would also go a long way to serve thousands of residents within the south-east­ern part of the municipality and beyond, and also make healthcare accessible to the farming commu­nities.

Inaugurating the facility here in Sunson, the MP, Alhaji Mahama, stated that it was an appealed made to him by the chiefs and people of the Sunson area to provide them health facility during his campaign tour of the area during the 2020 elections year.

“Today, I have fulfilled your request as your MP for the area,” he stated.

Alhaji Mahama again not­ed that the construction of the facility, which commenced in 2022 affirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises to the people, and also resolve to achieve universal healthcare coverage in the constituency.

Moreover, he stated that since he became the MP for the area he had invested so much in improving healthcare delivery in the con­stituency by providing the health facilities with medical equipments, medicines and other health acces­sories.

The MP added that he would continue to deliver on his man­date to promote quality health­care and infrastructure across the entire constituency.

Alhaji Mahama, however, appealed to the residents of the community and the management of the facility to take good care of the facility.

The Yendi Municipal Health Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ms Joana Quar­coo, applauded the MP for the good work he had been doing for the health sector in the munici­pality.

She said the construction and furnishing of the facility would go a long way to serve the people better relief currently pressure at the Yendi Government Hospital.

Ms Quarcoo also assured the MP that they would take proper care of the facility.

The chief, Tuzei Naa Neidow, in a speech read for him thanked the MP for providing the facility for the community.
